About this place
Ibara City Hirakushi Denchu Museum of Art is an art museum in Ibara, Okayama Prefecture, on Hirakushi Denchu. It reopened on April 18, 2023 (Reiwa 5), and its name was changed from Ibara City Tanaka Museum of Art to Ibara City Hirakushi Denchu Museum of Art. It began in 1969 (Showa 44) as the "Denchu-kan" to preserve the works of Hirakushi Denchu, a native of Ibara. A remnant of that name remains, and locally it is still affectionately called the Denchu-kan.
