A bridge over the Oi River at Arashiyama. Emperor Kameyama is said to have named it for the way the moon seems to cross it.
About this place
A bridge over the Oi River in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. The present bridge was completed in 1934, and it is said that Emperor Kameyama named it because it resembled the moon crossing the sky. Nearby you can enjoy boating, yakatabune houseboat cruises, and cormorant fishing in summer, and it is the center of the lantern floating on August 16 and the Autumn Leaves Festival in November.
