About this place
Sanno Club is a facility in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture. It is a renovation of the restaurant (ryotei) "Sanno Club," built in 1895, and opened in 2008 as a facility introducing the restaurant culture and the history of Sakata. At the time it was called Uhachiro, and it is also known as a place the painter Takehisa Yumeji visited several times. The building was registered as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003. On the first floor, the former restaurant's rooms are open to the public. On the second floor, kasafuku (umbrella-shaped hanging decorations) are on permanent display, and there is also a workshop where visitors can try making them.
