About this place
The Echizen Coast is the general name for the coast of Fukui Prefecture facing the Sea of Japan and the eastern coast of Wakasa Bay. It is designated the Echizen-Kaga Coast Quasi-National Park. There is no strict definition of the extent of the Echizen Coast. It often refers to the coast from Suizu in Tsuruga on the east coast of Wakasa Bay, past Cape Echizen and out of the bay, to Tojinbo at Ajima, Mikuni, Sakai. In the narrow sense it refers only to the coast near Cape Echizen. Centered on Cape Echizen, it projects into the Sea of Japan in a dogleg shape. The Kuzuryu River flows in at the northern end.
