About this place
Kumagawa-juku is a post town on the old Saba Kaido road linking Wakasa and Kyoto, in Wakasa, Mikata-Kaminaka District, Fukui Prefecture. It has been selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings under the name "Wakasa Kumagawa-juku Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings." On 24 April 2015 it was also certified as a Japan Heritage site as a component of "The Cultural Heritage of Wakasa's Travel Routes Linking the Sea and the Capital: Wakasa, Land of Imperial Food (Miketsukuni), and the Saba Kaido."
