About this place
Mojiko Retro is a tourist spot in Moji Ward, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. Centred on buildings from the era of prosperity through foreign trade that remain around JR Mojiko Station, it is a tourist spot where hotels and commercial facilities have been developed in a Taisho retro style, and it has received the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's 100 Urban Landscapes and the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Design Award 2001 Grand Prize. It also received the fiscal 2007 Hand-made Hometown Award "Regional Activity Category" for "Tourism Promotion and Regional Revitalisation in the Mojiko Retro District," and in fiscal 2016 the Grand Prize of that award.
