Sherds from the kilns that fired Shino and Oribe - technique read from the failures rather than the finished pots.
About this place
Toki City Mino Ceramics History Museum is a museum on Mino ware in Toki, Gifu Prefecture. It was opened in 1979 (Showa 54) to research and introduce the history of Mino Momoyama-period ceramics such as Shino ware and Oribe ware. It stores and exhibits finds from kiln sites in the city, centered on the Important Cultural Property "Items excavated from the Motoyashiki Pottery Kiln Site, Gifu Prefecture." It holds one special exhibition and four planned exhibitions a year. Due to the aging of the building and other reasons, it closed on March 31, 2024 (Reiwa 6) for reconstruction.
