About this place
The Itaya Hazan Memorial Museum is a museum of Chikusei City in Chikusei, Ibaraki Prefecture, honoring the achievements of the ceramic artist Itaya Hazan. The surroundings are developed as the Itaya Hazan Memorial Park. Hazan was the first ceramic artist to receive the Order of Culture, and the memorial museum was established on the site of his birthplace. Exhibition hall: displays Hazan's works, belongings and related items, as well as the Order of Culture. Birthplace: a single-story wooden house with a tiled roof. A building from the middle of the Edo period, it was designated an Ibaraki Prefecture Cultural Property (historic site) in 1965 (Showa 40).
