About this place
Chigasaki City Museum of Art is an art museum in Higashikaigan-kita, Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. It opened on April 24, 1998 (Heisei 10) with the aim of collecting and exhibiting works by artists connected with the local area and supporting citizens' creative and presentation activities. It holds about 2,000 items, centered on artists and works connected with Chigasaki, including the Western-style painters Yorozu Tetsugoro and Koyama Keizo, Irie Kan, the watercolorist Mihashi Kyodaiji, who was fascinated by Spain, the ukiyo-e artist Tsuchiya Koitsu, and emerging artists now based in Chigasaki.
