About this place
The Kyoto Municipal Kangyokan is an event venue in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture. Its common name is Miyako Messe. The building, which was built in 1996, was designed by Kiyoshi Kawasaki and constructed as one of the projects to commemorate the 1,200th anniversary of the founding of Heian-kyo. Inside there are permanent exhibitions (the Museum of Kyoto Traditional Crafts and the Nitto Design Museum), several exhibition halls for events and meeting rooms. The total area of its exhibition halls is the largest in Kyoto Prefecture.
