About this place
The Former Residence of Norinaga Motoori is a historic site of Japan in Tonomachi, Matsusaka, Mie Prefecture. It is the building where the Edo-period scholar of national learning Norinaga Motoori lived, and on the second floor is the study that Norinaga named "Suzunoya." In 1909 it was moved to its present site on the grounds of Matsusaka Castle for preservation, and in 1953 it was designated a Special Historic Site of Japan together with its original site.
