About this place
Suzuka sumi is a kind of ink produced in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture. Besides being generally used as stationery and paint, it is also made as works of art and craft in which the kneaded and hardened ink is carved and otherwise worked. Today the tradition of Suzuka sumi is kept alive by two people, the Traditional Craftsman Kido Ito and his son Harunobu Ito. The only shop making it now is Shinseido.
