About this place
Kitazawa Museum of Art is a museum on the shore of Lake Suwa in Suwa, Nagano Prefecture, with French Art Nouveau-period glass craft by Emile Galle and others, and contemporary Nihonga. It was founded by Kitazawa Toshio, founder of Kitz. Next door is the Sanritsu Hattori Art Museum. It opened on May 21, 1983, as the world's first museum to treat glass products as works of art. It holds 700 pieces of French Art Nouveau-period glass craft represented by Emile Galle, and 200 works of contemporary Nihonga.
