Overview
Only paintings by art students killed in the war; beside each hangs the painter's age and where he died, nothing else.
About this place
Mugonkan is an art museum in Koazo, Ueda, Nagano Prefecture. It is generally known as a private museum, but as its owner Kubojima Seiichiro has written many times in his books, its character, whether art museum or memorial facility for the war dead, is unclear. It is a museum built to console the souls of art students who died in World War II, and opened in 1997 (Heisei 9) as a branch of the museum Shinano Drawing Museum (now KAITA EPITAPH Zansho-kan). The owner is Kubojima Seiichiro.
