About this place
Kawagoe City Art Museum is a municipal art museum of Kawagoe on the site of the Ninomaru of Kawagoe Castle in Kuruwamachi, Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture. It is a facility established under the Kawagoe City Art Museum ordinance. It opened on December 1, 2002 (Heisei 14, Kawagoe Citizens' Day) as a project for the 80th anniversary of Kawagoe's municipal status. It stands next to the Kawagoe City Museum on the Ninomaru site of Kawagoe Castle, and its exterior incorporates the design of Kawagoe's kurazukuri merchant houses.
