About this place
Saitama City Iwatsuki Doll Museum is a museum in Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama, Saitama Prefecture. It is Japan's first public museum with dolls as its theme. It opened on February 22, 2020. Iwatsuki is known as one of Japan's leading producers of dolls (Iwatsuki dolls), and from the 1960s in the days of the former Iwatsuki City there was a plan to build a tourism facility making use of that tradition and culture. After the merger into Saitama City, the construction plan got under way tied in with plans such as the extension of the Saitama Rapid Railway to Iwatsuki Station and the restoration of Iwatsuki Castle.
