About this place
Seishido is a building in Fukaya, Saitama Prefecture. It is an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Built to commemorate Shibusawa Eiichi's 77th birthday, it was constructed inside Seiwaen in Setagaya, Tokyo, a sports facility for Dai-Ichi Bank employees, and completed in 1916 (Taisho 5). Shibusawa himself named it after a passage from the Confucian Doctrine of the Mean, "Sincerity is the way of Heaven; to make oneself sincere is the way of man."
