About this place
Kurokabe Square is a tourist spot in the old town of Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, making use of a group of traditional buildings. It is the collective name for "Kurokabe No. 1" through "No. 30," Japanese-style buildings with black plaster, but it is generally introduced as the area centred on "Fuda no Tsuji" (named because public notice boards stood there in the Edo period), the crossing of the Hokkoku Kaido and Otemon-dori (Mino Kumidani Kaido).
