Overview
Floats carved in bare wood with no paint - the depth of the cut is the whole display.
About this place
The Kanuma Imamiya Shrine Festival Yatai Event is an accompanying event of the shrine's annual grand festival, in which hayashi floats decorated with splendid carvings are paraded. The festival days are the second Saturday and Sunday of October each year, but in recent years it has been held on the Saturday and Sunday before Sports Day. It is commonly called the "Kanuma Autumn Festival," and in that case the name covers both the Shinto ritual of the grand festival of Imamiya Shrine and the citizens' festival held on the second day, including the citizens' parade and the gathering of the yatai floats.
