About this place
The Tochigi Kura-no-Machi Museum of Art was a municipal art museum in Tochigi, Tochigi Prefecture. It opened in 2003. It made use of three pawnshop storehouses (Registered Tangible Cultural Properties) built in the Edo period that had been in actual use until about 15 years earlier. Besides the "Kura Exhibition Room," which permanently exhibited the storehouses themselves and related materials, it held about 200 works of art, including paintings connected with the local area.
