About this place
Wakimachi Minamimachi is a Place of Scenic Beauty in Wakimachi, Mima, Tokushima Prefecture. It is also called the Udatsu Townscape. Selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings on 16 December 1988. It has been selected as Shikoku 88 Views No. 8, one of the Tokushima 88 Views, one of the 100 Recommended Viewpoints of Nishi-Awa, one of the 100 Townscapes, one of the 100 Roads of Japan and one of the 100 Historical Climates of Beautiful Japan. It is designated an Awa Historical and Cultural Road. As the "townscape of udatsu and white walls," it received the fiscal 1986 Hand-made Hometown Award (Townscapes Nurtured by People and Climate).
