About this place
Yamamoto-tei is a modern Japanese-style residence built in the 1920s in Shibamata 7-chome, Katsushika Ward, Tokyo. It is now owned by Katsushika Ward and open to the public. It is behind the Tora-san Museum. The year it was built is unknown, but it is said to have reached its present form through repeated extensions and renovations from the end of the Taisho era to the early Showa era. The land originally belonged to the Suzuki family, village headmen, who ran a roof tile factory at this location until the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 (Taisho 12).
