About this place
Takaoka Copperware is the general name for copperware made in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. On February 17, 1975 (Showa 50), it was designated a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Takaoka is a major producer of art copperware in modern Japan, and its diverse techniques, from large products such as temple bells and bronze statues to small items such as indoor ornaments and Buddhist and Shinto altar implements, are famous nationwide. Works of Takaoka copperware such as bronze statues can be seen in various places in Takaoka (especially the central urban area, Takaoka Kojo Park and Kanayamachi).
