Kuroe is a place name in Kainan, Wakayama Prefecture. As of March 31, 2012 (Heisei 24), the population is 2,275. The postal code is 642-0011. It is located in the north of Kainan, bordering Fuyuno in Kita-Wakayama City to the north, Okada to the east, Hikata to the south, Funao to the west, and Wakayama's Kemi and Uchihara to the northwest. Wakayama Prefectural Road 9 (Iwade-Kainan Line), Wakayama Prefectural Road 135 (Wakayama-Kainan Line) and Wakayama Prefectural Road 137 (Mita-Kainan Line) pass through its area. Besides being a production area of Kishu lacquerware (Kuroe-nuri), it is home to the sake brewer Nate Shuzoten, known for "Kuroushi."
