About this place
Taiji Town Whale Museum (Taiji Whale Museum) is a museum in Kujira-hama Park in Taiji, Higashimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture, which prospered through coastal whaling. It has materials on the history of whaling and the Oseminagare incident. It opened in 1969 with the aim of passing on the history and techniques of whaling in Taiji to later generations. In a building painted with a large whale, more than 1,000 items are exhibited, including skeletal specimens of various whales and materials on whale ecology and whaling.
