About this place
The Tsuruoka City Fujisawa Shuhei Memorial Museum is a municipal literature museum in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, commemorating the writer Fujisawa Shuhei, a native of the town. It is located in Tsuruoka Park (the Tsuruga-oka Castle site) and opened on April 29, 2010. In 2005, six municipalities merged, giving Tsuruoka the largest area in Tohoku. Wanting to send Fujisawa's literature and the culture of Shonai out to the whole country, the city built the memorial museum at a total cost of 880 million yen.
