About this place
Hiraizumi Honpo Co., Ltd. is a sake maker in Nikaho, Akita Prefecture. Founded in 1487 (Chokyo 1) in the Muromachi period, it is Akita's oldest brewery, with more than 500 years of history. In Teikoku Databank's sake-making category, with its 1487 founding it is the second oldest brewery in Japan, after Sudo Honke Co., Ltd. (1141). The first head moved his clan from Senshu in Kansai to this land and farmed.
