Yoshida Sake Brewery in Eiheiji. It grows its own rice and brews with it.
About this place
Yoshida Shuzo is a liquor maker and seller in Yoshida District, Fukui Prefecture. It has no relation to Yoshida Shuzo (Ikeda sake) in Osaka Prefecture. Its signature brand is Hakuryu. It was founded by taking over Hakuryu from the Sato family, who had been brewing sake in Kitajima Village in the Shihi estate. Holding that local sake should truly be made with locally grown rice, it insists on consistent sake making that starts with growing rice. Founded in 1806 (Bunka 3).
