About this place
Ena Kawakamiya Co., Ltd. is a company with its head office in Ena, Gifu Prefecture. It is a Japanese-confectionery shop known especially for kuri kinton (sweet chestnut paste). It was founded in June 1964 (Showa 39) by Kamada Mitsuru, who had served as factory manager at Kawakamiya in Nakatsugawa. Its history since its founding has been entirely different from that of Kawakamiya, and Ena Kawakamiya also focuses on Western-style sweets made with chestnuts as well as Japanese confectionery. Ena chestnuts from the Tono region of Gifu Prefecture are known as high-quality chestnuts, but from the 1970s onward production increasingly used chestnuts from other areas.
