About this place
Fundodai Co., Ltd. is a seasoning maker with its head office in Kita Ward, Kumamoto, Kumamoto Prefecture. Founded in 1869 (Meiji 2), it is a company with a long history. It makes and sells soy sauce, including umakuchi soy sauce, usukuchi soy sauce and clear soy sauce, as well as miso, vinegars, sauces, dressings and other seasonings. At the end of the Sengoku period, the first head, Okubo Hachizaemon, founded a money-changing and sake-brewing business. In 1869 (Meiji 2), the eleventh head, Okubo Hikoshiro, switched to soy sauce brewing.
