About this place
Kitagawa Honke Co., Ltd. is a liquor brewing company in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture. Its founding is said to be before the 3rd year of Meireki (1657). The company was established in Showa 11. It is a long-established Fushimi sake brewery that has continued since the Edo period. The present main brand is Tomio; it first entered the National New Sake Appraisal in 1983 (Showa 58) and, as of February 2015, has won the gold prize 15 times. The brewery workers, who once numbered 120 led by Echizen Nukashi, now brew sake with a staff of 8.
