About this place
Yamamoto Honke Co., Ltd. is a manufacturer in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, that makes and sells sake and also runs the izakaya chain "Torisei." Founded in 1677 (5th year of Empo) in the Edo period, the present brewery was completely burned in the Battle of Toba-Fushimi in 1868 (Keio 4 / Meiji 1) and rebuilt the same year. Its brewing water is "Shiragikusui," one of the Seven Famous Waters of Fushimi, which gushes forcefully beside the Torisei main store and can be used by anyone.
