About this place
Aoki Shuzo Co., Ltd. (AOKISHUZO The Sake Brewery Co.,LTD) is a sake maker (brewery) headquartered in Shiozawa, Minamiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture. Founded in 1717 (Kyoho 2), it has the longest history in the Minamiuonuma region. The brewery stands on Makinodori in the Shiozawa post town of the Mikuni Kaido road. Its signature brand is Kakurei, named by Bokushi Suzuki, author of Hokuetsu Seppu. His second son, Yahachi Suzuki, has taken over Hiranoya (now Aoki Shuzo) as the seventh generation.
