About this place
Midorikawa Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a sake-brewing company with its head office in Aoshima, Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture. It is located in the south of Uonuma and surrounded by fields where Uonuma Koshihikari rice and other crops grow. The Uono River, the largest tributary of the Shinano River, flows right beside the company, but it draws subsurface water from the Uonuma hills from 50 m underground for use as brewing water. The rice and koji used as raw materials for sake and the mother water are decisive, and the toji's polished skill produces a fine sake.
