Overview
The swords of Osafune, Setouchi. Swordsmiths gathered here from the Kamakura period, and it became a major production center for Japanese swords.
About this place
The Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum is a museum displaying swords in Osafune, Osafune-cho, Setouchi, Okayama Prefecture. It was originally established as the Osafune Town Museum. When the towns of Osafune, Oku and Ushimado merged, it was renovated in 2004 (Heisei 16) with an added workshop, so as to make it a museum specializing in swords. As of 2020, it mainly displays Bizen swords, made chiefly in Bizen Province.
