About this place
Nakashima Propeller Co., Ltd. (English name: Nakashima Propeller Co.,Ltd) is a Japanese maker of marine propulsion equipment. It has its head office in Higashi Ward, Okayama, Okayama Prefecture, and holds the top share in the world for ship propellers. It also makes the propulsion units used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. In recent years it has expanded into medical devices such as artificial joints, which account for about a tenth of sales. It also entered the boat-race propeller business in 1992, when it split the market evenly with Yamato Hatsudoki.
