About this place
The Kurashiki Museum of Folk Crafts is a registered museum in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, that preserves and displays folk crafts from around the world related to daily life. It is operated by the Kurashiki Folk Crafts Museum, a public interest incorporated foundation. It stands in the Kurashiki Riverside (Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter), an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. It opened in 1948 (Showa 23), when volunteer members of the Okayama Folk Craft Association reused a rice storehouse from the late Edo period and folk crafts from various regions were donated.
