Overview
Kitamura Machinery in Takaoka. It makes machining centers.
About this place
Kitamura Machinery Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company specializing in machining centers, with its head office in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. Takaoka is a town of copperware, and among it more than 80% of Japan's Buddha statues were made in the city. The company, which had been in the machine tool manufacturing business there, took a hint from the Thousand-Armed Kannon statue and in 1971 developed the vertical machining center (Model T-12), a machine tool unlike any other in the world. At the same time it applied for patents in countries around the world, and in 1974 obtained patents in 24 countries.
