About this place
Sakurayama Hachimangu (the formal spelling uses an older character for "sakura") is a shrine in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture. Its autumn festival, together with the spring festival of Hie Shrine, is known as the Takayama Festival and is designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The main deity is the great deity Hachiman (Emperor Ojin), and the great deity Atsuta (Yamato Takeru no Mikoto) and the great deity Kashii (Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu) are enshrined alongside.
