About this place
Hitachinokuni Izumo Taisha is a shrine in Kasama, Ibaraki. It was founded in 1992 as Izumo Taisha Hitachi Church of Izumo Taishakyo, and became independent in 2014 as the religious corporation Hitachinokuni Izumo Taisha. It was built in December 1992. It has one of the largest shimenawa (sacred ropes) in the country. The great shimenawa is 16 m long and weighs 6 t. The grounds contain a glass workshop and an art gallery. In the Nihon Montoku Tenno Jitsuroku, it is recorded that Okuninushi worked at nation-building together with Sukunabikona in Hitachi Province.
