About this place

Nitta Shrine (Nitta-jinja, also Niita-jinja) is a shrine in Miyauchicho, Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is the Ichinomiya of Satsuma Province. Its former shrine rank was Kokuhei Chusha (medium-sized state-supported shrine), and as of 2025 (Reiwa 7) it is a Beppyo Shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. Because it once enshrined the deity Hachiman as one of the Hachiman Gosho Betsugu, it was also called by other names such as "Nitta Hachimangu," "Hachiman Nitta-gu," "Sendai Hachimangu," "Ichinomiya Hachiman" and "Nitta Myojin."
