Overview
Its main hall and worship hall are National Treasures. What makes it famous is the corridor, about 360 metres of it, running along the ridge. A roofed walkway that undulates downhill with the lie of the land. That is architecture fitted to a site, not a design meant to be looked at.
About this place
Kibitsu Jinja (吉備津神社) is a Shinto shrine in the Kibitsu neighborhood of Kita-ku, Okayama in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. It is the ichinomiya (first shrine) of former Bitchū Province. The shrine's main festivals are held on the second Sunday in May and October 15 each year.
