About this place
Kaiko Shrine is a shrine in Komoro, Nagano. It is also the landowner of the main part of Komoro Castle Ruins Park, Kaikoen. When the site of Komoro Castle was developed as Kaikoen in April 1881 (Meiji 13), former samurai of the old Komoro Domain built it at its present site by enshrining together the spirits of the successive Makino lords who ruled the domain and the Tenmangu and Hitamasha, which had been worshiped as guardian deities within the castle since the domain era. The present hall was rebuilt in November 1987 (Showa 62).
