Overview
Said to grant a wish if you keep it to a single word. A great ginkgo stands here.
About this place
Katsuragi Hitokotonushi Shrine is a shrine in Gose, Nara Prefecture. It is a shrine listed in the Engishiki (a Myojin Taisha), and its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine. It is popularly known as 'Ichigon-san' or 'Ichigonji-san'. It stands on the eastern foot of Mount Katsuragi, facing east. The enshrined deities are the following two. Katsuragi no Hitokotonushi no Okami - the principal deity. Wakatakeru no Mikoto - the 21st emperor, Emperor Yuryaku. The Meiji-period 'Jinja Meisaicho' gives the two deities as Kotoshironushi no Mikoto and Wakatakeru no Mikoto, while the 'Yamato Shiryo' says Emperor Yuryaku is enshrined together with Hitokotonushi.
