About this place
Fujimoto Shrine is a shrine in Murakami, Niigata. Its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine. It enshrines Naito Nobunari, the half-brother of Tokugawa Ieyasu and founder of the Murakami Domain, and the successive castle lords. The entire grounds are designated the national historic site "Murakami Castle Ruins", and the shrine buildings and attached structures are designated Murakami City Cultural Properties and Murakami City Historic Landscape Buildings. It stands in the Sannomaru of Murakami Castle and enshrines as its principal deities Naito Buzen-no-kami Nobunari, founder of the Naito family, lords of the Murakami Domain, and the successive castle lords.
