About this place
Matsuo Shrine is a shrine on Mount Matsuo in Inubushi, Tokamachi, Niigata. It is also called "Matsuo Daigongen". This entry also touches on Matsuo shrines scattered across the area centered on Tokamachi after the Heisei mergers, in addition to Matsuo Shrine in Inubushi. The Higashikubiki region, including Matsunoyama-go (the former Matsushiro and former Matsunoyama towns of Tokamachi), is located in southeastern Niigata.
