About this place
Monjusenji is a Tendai-sect temple in Daionji, Kunisakimachi, Kunisaki, Oita Prefecture. Its mountain name is Gabisan. It is an old temple on the north-eastern slope of Mount Monju (617 m), located almost in the centre of the Kunisaki Peninsula. Its mountain name, Gabisan, is another name for Mount Monju, where the temple stands. It is counted as one of Japan's three Monju temples. The temple also claims to be the birthplace of the saying 'three heads together have the wisdom of Monju'.
