Overview
It guards the sea of the Seki mackerel and Seki horse mackerel. It carries a legend of two diving women who recovered a sword.
About this place
Hayasuihime Shrine (Hayasuihime-jinja, also written with other characters) is a shrine in Oita, Oita Prefecture. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine, and its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine (kensha). Its alternative name is Seki no Gongen-sama. It enshrines Yasomagatsuhi-no-kami, Onaobi-no-kami, the three Sumiyoshi deities (Sokotsutsuo-no-kami, Nakatsutsuo-no-kami and Uwatsutsuo-no-kami), and the various deities of the earth and sea.
