About this place
Takatsuka Atago Jizoson is a Jizo hall and religious corporation in Mabaru, Amagasemachi, Hita, Oita Prefecture. It is known as a rare Jizo hall that preserves a form of Shinto-Buddhist syncretic worship. For this reason, although Jizo Bodhisattva is the principal image, it has a torii gate, bells and small bells hang together, and there is an auxiliary shrine to Amaterasu Omikami in the precincts. Locally it is affectionately called 'Takatsuka-san'.
