A shrine tied to Sugawara no Michizane. The dried rice offered here gave its name to domyoji flour, the material of sakura mochi.
About this place
Domyoji Tenmangu is a shrine in Domyoji, Fujiidera, Osaka. Its former shrine rank was village-district shrine (gosha). The grounds have 800 plum trees of 80 varieties, and it is both a famous plum viewing spot and selected as one of Osaka's Top 100 Greens. Ame no Hohi no Mikoto Kakuju-ni (the nun Kakuju) - a person who was an aunt of Sugawara no Michizane. For his achievement in changing the custom of following a master in death by making haniwa, in the 32nd year of Emperor Suinin, Nomi no Sukune was given the family name Haji no Omi and this land.
